Data Security – 6 Basics
The 6 most important basics
These six points form the foundation for secure devices and accounts. Easy to implement, big impact.
Strong passwords
At least 12 characters, upper/lowercase, numbers, special characters. No names, birthdays or "123456".
Apps only from official stores
Only App Store (Apple) or Google Play Store. Don't install apps from unknown sources or via links.
Careful with photos & videos
What goes online, stays online. Don't share embarrassing, intimate or too personal images.
Set profiles to private
Social media profiles should be private. Only confirmed contacts see content. For younger children: completely forbid contact with strangers.
Install updates
Keep operating system and apps up to date. Updates close security gaps.
Have conversations
Technology alone is not enough. Talk regularly about online experiences. Show interest, don't interrogate.
Quick check: Is everything secure?
For advanced users
